Dickinson State University honors program donates over 600lbs of food to Amen Food Pantry – The Dickinson Press

DICKINSON — The Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program (TRHLP) at Dickinson State University announced on Wednesday, March 20, the success of its recent food drive, which resulted in a donation of over 600 pounds of food to the local Amen Food Pantry.

Organized by the students of the Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program, the food drive spanned a week-long period during which students rallied their efforts to gather non-perishable food items from both on and off-campus sources. The collective effort culminated in an array of essential food supplies, including canned goods and dry goods, all aimed at providing support to families and individuals in need within the Dickinson community.

Reflecting on the achievement, Marivern Easton, Director of the Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program, expressed her admiration for the students’ unwavering commitment to service.

“The success of our food drive truly demonstrates the power of community and collective action,” she said. “We are proud of our students’ commitment to serving others and their determination to make a difference.”

The donated food items were gathered efficiently and delivered to the Amen Food Pantry, a local organization dedicated to combating food insecurity within the community. The contribution from the Theodore Roosevelt Honors Leadership Program will enhance the pantry’s ability to address hunger insecurity in the community.

Griffin Obrigewitch, Student Assistant Director of the program, shared his perspective on the impactful experience of participating in the food drive.

“Participating in the food drive was a great experience. Knowing that our efforts resulted in over 600 pounds of food being donated to the Amen Food Pantry fills me with a sense of pride for the community that supports us so much,” he said. “He said. It’s incredibly gratifying to be part of a community that comes together to make a difference in the lives of others. This experience has taught me the importance of service and has inspired me to continue finding ways to give back to those in need.”
