Selena Gomez is no stranger to the culinary world. ICYMI, The Only Murders in the Building star dropped her own cooking series on HBO Max in the height of the pandemic—and she nabbed a Daytime Emmy Award nom, we might add. Now, she’s taking her talents to the Food Network.
Late last week, Warner Bros. Discovery chairman and CCO of US networks Kathleen Finch announced the news of not one, but two new Gomez shows headed down the production pipeline. And while the first of her projects will premiere later this year (more on that in a min), it’s the latter series that has got people talking.
The second series—which is slated for a 2024 release—will follow Gomez on her cross-country quest to cook with the best chefs in the US Sound familiar? That’s probably because it’s a pretty similar concept to the iconic Guy Fieri series of the same network, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Maybe our girl Selener can snag an appearance with the Mayor of Flavortown herself.
“Gomez will also soon begin working on a new series for 2024 that will have him meeting up with some of the best chefs in the country in a quest to cook their most popular dishes when he visits their kitchens,” Warner Bros. Discovery said in the official announcement. “Both projects will be produced by July Moon Productions and The Intellectual Property Corporation (IPC), a part of Sony Pictures Television for Food Network.”
While execs and Gomez herself have remained tight-lipped on the triple D-inspired travel cooking show, we do have a few more details on its predecessor. The “celebration-focused series” will premiere during this upcoming holiday season. Yes, that means later this year.
“The holidays are always huge for Food Network, reaching nearly 50M P2+ viewers, and having Selena kicking off the nearly 100 hours of new and returning holiday programming will certainly make this coming season one to celebrate,” Finch said in the announcement.
